About this workshop
Join us for two practical, inspiring workshops set in Koren’s small city permaculture garden in Tarntanya / Adelaide (opening to the public for the very first time!).
You’ll explore a real-life permaculture demonstration site, learn how to design your own garden and grow nutritious food using permaculture principles, and enjoy a seasonal lunch you’ll help harvest and prepare — complete with homemade sourdough pizzas and fresh produce straight from the garden.
This half-day experience blends permaculture design theory with practical skills, followed by relaxed conversation over a shared lunch — all in a city backyard shaped by permaculture thinking.
What you’ll learn
Permaculture garden design:
- Learn the basics of urban permaculture design with Koren, including zones, sector mapping, function stacking, WASPA and more.
- See real examples of permaculture in action throughout Koren’s garden.
- Discover how permaculture extends beyond the garden, into your kitchen and neighbourhood.
Organic food growing techniques:
- Learn key concepts to grow more food with less effort: companion planting, self-seeding, green manures, perennial crops and more.
- Discover what grows best in Adelaide’s climate and how to build a garden that feeds you all year round.
- Get tips on harvesting, storing and eating what you grow (plus how to cook with weeds).
How to cook from your garden:
- Take part in a hands-on harvesting and cooking demo with Kym.
- Learn how to make sourdough pizza and focaccia, topped with garden produce and served alongside fresh seasonal salads.
- Get recipes and ideas for simple home cooking that makes the best use of garden produce.
And then enjoy a sit-down garden lunch with Koren and Kym, with plenty of time to ask questions 1:1 and chat permie dreams with like-minded folk.
You’ll also receive:
- An 18-page printed handbook full of resources and helpful info
- A take-home sourdough starter and recipes for sourdough bread, pizza and focaccia
- Seeds to grow your own green manure crop
- A homegrown and homemade shared lunch (sourdough pizzas and fresh produce)
- Herbal drinks on the day — kombucha, fruit shrubs and soda water
- Access to Nomad Nursery veggie seedlings at half price on the day
- A relaxed, friendly environment where no question is too small
