Based in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills, Whisson Lake is dedicated wholly and solely to producing Pinot Noir wines. (And yes, they’re excellent.) Yet busy co-owners Mark and Andrie Whisson were struggling to find time to tell their own story to interested customers.
Firstly, we defined the winery’s key messages — core elements that make Whisson Lake unique and can be gently repeated to build a memorable brand story. We also created a Mini Brand Kit to provide visual branding cohesion for all colours and fonts used in Whisson Lake communications.
We then completed a low-cost website revamp, remaining with the existing platform (Wix) but updating all pages to include key messaging, tell Whisson’s compelling brand story, improve mobile device display and optimise for search engine traffic. I shot high-quality new photographs of Mark and Andrie, too.
Finally, we built a beautifully branded email newsletter template in Mailchimp and implemented a quarterly email newsletter.
Now, as part of an ongoing marketing partnership, we interview Mark and Andrie at the beginning of each season, then write and design a newsletter update for their customers and supporters.
A 30% overall increase in website traffic, with sending of seasonal newsletters regularly increasing web traffic by up to 750%, compared to usual daily traffic.
Total online wine sales increased 144%, year on year.
